A new season is nearly upon us! We will be glad to start taking reservations for your flight beginning May 1st. Good flying weather generally comes at the beginning of June. Due to the ever changing winds of spring, there are very few flyable days in May. If you need a date in May, please understand that spring winds and rain might ruin your plans.
A Note to our Groupon Riders... We have not forgotten about you. Early last summer, we ran an online promotion through Groupon. Unfortunately, due to an unseasonable amount of rainy and windy days, we were unable to fly all of the passengers that were scheduled. We live up to our commitments. Please accept our apologies for not getting you up in the balloon last season. We will do our best to fly you as soon as possible.
Please remember that the Groupon ticket that you bought is only good for one person. If you only bought one Groupon ticket and would like to bring a friend or loved one, an extra charge of $195 per additional passenger will apply. When calling to schedule your ride, plese have your groupon ticket available. We will need some information from it.
Join us in flying the skies of Indiana. The Hot Air Corps, Inc has been flying balloons in Indiana since 1972. This year we celebrate our 40th year of carrying passengers.
A hot air balloon ride is an opportunity to see the countryside from a unique perspective. Whether flying at 2,000 feet, taking off, landing, or floating along at a much lower altitude, there is so much to see.
We fly aircraft certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and inspected regularly by FAA licensed inspectors and mechanics.
Our pilots are all FAA licensed commercial balloon pilots with the combined experience of over 3000 hours and sixty total years of balloon passenger ride piloting.
Balloon Rides are about an hour long with the exact time determined by the wind speed and direction and by the flying area. We meet about 30 minutes prior to the flight at a location chosen again by the wind direction and speed. We have a short briefing and then inflate the balloon and go flying. Since balloons travel with the wind, we never know where we are going to land. We look for a grassy dry field with no crops or animals. Once we land, we pack up and take everyone back to the launch point. The entire adventure usually takes about 2 and a half hours from arrival to return.
Most flights are taken from mid June to October because the weather conditions are calmer and more predictable. Just like all balloonist almost all of our flights are made in the early morning near sunrise or late in the evening 2 hours before sunset.
Our primary flying area is northern Indianapolis and Anderson. We are able to make special arrangements to fly other places.
